On his birthday, Rohit became the ‘Vikramaditya’ of Mumbai Indians, a special feat made in his 1000th match.
The second match of IPL 2023 was played on Sunday (April 30) as Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals. It became the 1000th match in IPL history. In this match held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma set some records as soon as he stepped on the field. Interestingly, Rohit is celebrating his 36th birthday on Sunday itself.
Sunday was a big day for the IPL. In the sixteenth year, the 1000th match in IPL history was played at the Wankhede Stadium. It also includes 7 matches abandoned without a ball being bowled in IPL history.

The day was also important for Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit was celebrating his 36th birthday on Sunday itself. Along with that, he also got the privilege of becoming the most capped player for Mumbai Indians. Coming in at 190, he left Kieron Pollard behind. Pollard played 189 matches for Mumbai. Rohit was also seen leading Mumbai Indians in a record 150th match. Earlier only Chennai captain MS Dhoni has done such a feat. Dhoni is the only captain in the IPL to lead a team in more than 200 matches.
