‘Once set…’, what Akshar Patel said after hitting his third half-century in the series?
The Indian team is leading by 88 runs in the Ahmedabad Test. On the final day, Australia will start from 3 runs unbeaten. In the first innings, like the Australian team, India also put up a big score. Virat Kohli and all-rounder Akshar Patel contributed the fourth highest runs for India. After the end of the fourth day’s play, Akshar gave a special comment about his amazing batting.
Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja started the fourth day for the Indian team. Jadeja lost his wicket for 28 runs. KS Bharat, who came to bat after that, also returned to the tent after scoring 44 runs. However, Axar Patel, who came at number seven, was able to form a great partnership with Virat. There was a partnership of 162 runs between these two. But the partnership was broken as Akshar lost his wicket on 79 runs. Akshar was bowled by fast bowler Mitchell Starc. After the day’s play, he commented to the media about his batting performance.
Akshar Patel told reporters, “I am happy after contributing with my bat. I still have faith in myself. I benefited from trying to win the team last year. I’m hitting the bad ball and honoring the good ball.”

“Our plan was just to keep playing time. In the beginning we were chasing their runs. Once we hit the target and decided if there was a bad ball, I would hit it. “Once the batsmen are set, the bowlers don’t get much help,” added Akshar. Meanwhile, Akshar Patel’s batting has been tremendous in this year’s Border Gavaskar Test series. He has scored three fifties and scored 264 runs in the series so far. After Usman Khawaja and Virat Kohli, Akshar is the third highest run-scorer in this series.
