“Our players are afraid of Warner”, the legend told the England team at home
The Ashes series between England and Australia is known as the most prestigious Test series in the world of cricket. This year the series will be played in England. However, at the same time, former England captain Michael Vaughan has criticized the players of the team. He said his players are afraid of Australia’s veteran opener David Warner.
Currently Warner is seen playing IPL in India. He would then play for Australia in the final of the World Test Championship. The Australian selection committee will decide whether to pick him for the Ashes only after his performance in this match. Because, his current Test form looks very bad. He did not get any runs from his bat on the previous England tour. He then scored a double century against South Africa. However, after a poor performance in the first two Tests on the India tour, he returned home due to injury.
Despite this, Vaughan seems to be saying that Warner can be dangerous. Speaking in an interview, he said,
“Although Warner’s current form is not good, the England team fears him. The England captain will be worried that he could be a threat to his team if he returns to form. His performance in England is not good. But a player like him can change a match anytime.”
England is hosting the Ashes series this time. In the previous series, Australia defeated England at their home ground. However, after Ben Stokes took over the leadership of England’s Test team, England has performed consistently. They will try to avenge their defeat in this series.
