Pakistan again pulled a prank on World Cup participation, President said, ‘give written assurance’
The ongoing cold war between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not abating. For the past six months, both the boards have been at loggerheads over their participation in the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI Cricket World Cup. Similarly, PCB chief Najam Sethi has made a big comment while talking to the media.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Najam Sethi has targeted India while talking to the media on Friday (May 12). Sethi said,
“Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup will depend entirely on India. The Indian team should come to Pakistan and play the upcoming Asia Cup. Also give written assurance to play 2025 Champions Trophy.”
Only 5 months are left for the World Cup to be held in India. However, PCB has not yet given any written assurance to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to participate in this World Cup. Therefore, Pakistan’s entry into the World Cup is now in doubt.
According to media reports, India’s tour of Pakistan and Pakistan’s tour of India will not depend on BCCI or PCB. Hence, PCB will not be able to give any assurance to ICC regarding participation in the World Cup. Like BCCI, here too Pakistan government will approve, PCB can take a concrete decision only after getting approval from the government.
Pakistan’s matches will be played in Bangalore-Chennai?
Meanwhile, it is revealed that BCCI has planned to play most of the matches of Pakistan in South India in the World Cup due to security reasons. According to a report by a cricket website, the India-Pakistan matches may be held in Ahmedabad and the remaining Pakistan matches in Bangalore or Chennai.
Pakistan may demand a hybrid model in the World Cup
It is currently suspected that the PCB may demand a hybrid model during the World Cup. Accordingly, Pakistan can play its matches in Pakistan or Sri Lanka. The Indian team had made a similar demand in the upcoming Asia Cup. After this demand was accepted, Bangladesh protested. Therefore, there is a possibility that the Asia Cup will be played in Sri Lanka.
