‘Personal records are not important to me’, captain Rohit’s heart-wrenching statement after the series win

The Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia ended on Monday. The fourth and final Test match of the series ended in a draw. India led by Rohit Sharma won the Test series by a margin of 2-1 and retained the trophy. In the last Test, the match could not be decided as the pitch was favorable for batting. After the match, Rohit gave a special reaction.

Indian team decided to bowl first after losing the toss in this match. Australia scored 480 runs while batting first. In reply, Barta made a mountain of 571 runs. On the final day, the Australian team scored 171 for 2 in their second innings and both captains unanimously decided to call off the match. Captain Rohit Sharma () gave a special reaction to the media after the match was over at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. According to Rohit, this year’s Border Gavaskar Trophy was amazing for the Indian team.

Speaking to the media, Rohit said, “In this series, many players were part of a Test series for the first time. We knew the importance of this series and the opposition team. We have worked hard to win the series. We knew the importance of this even before the start of the series. The team is no longer dependent on only 2-3 players. Many players in the team contributed well.” Rohit further said, “Personal records are not very important to me. But we did the series on the name, which is unique to Khapu.”

Meanwhile, considering the total of this match between the two teams, a total of four players scored centuries. Usman Khawaja scored 180 and Cameron Green scored 114 for Australia in the first innings. In reply, Virat Kohli scored 186 and Shubman Gill scored 128 for India in the first innings. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s first-innings performance was also commendable. Ashwin took 6 wickets in the first innings and one in the second innings.
