‘Play our matches in these two cities’, PCB demands ICC for ODI World Cup
ICC ODI World Cup is going to be organized in India this year. Pakistan team is expected to come to India for the World Cup. Information is currently coming out that Pakistan will play its matches in the World Cup in Chennai and Kolkata. This information has been received from a source of International Cricket Council i.e. ICC.
This year, the ODI World Cup (ICC ODI World Cup 2023) organized in the month of October-November will be played in a total of 12 different cities in India. A total of 46 matches will be played in the World Cup. The inclusion of Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Rajkot, Bangalore, Delhi, Indore, Guwahati and Hyderabad among these 12 cities is considered almost certain. The World Cup may begin on October 5. According to information, PCB is currently in discussions with ICC regarding the ODI World Cup.
A senior ICC official who is aware of this said, “A lot depends on the BCCI and the Indian government taking this decision. But Pakistan would like to play most of their World Cup matches in Kolkata and Chennai.” However, it would be beneficial for the ICC to host the match between India and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Because the audience capacity of this stadium is 1,32,000. The World Cup final will also be played at this venue. The World Cup Committee of ICC and BCCI will soon decide on the organization of World Cup matches.
Meanwhile, the Asia Cup 2023 dispute between PCB and BCCI is still not resolved. Pakistan will host the upcoming Asia Cup. According to information, due to BCCI’s insistence, all the matches of the Indian team in the Asia Cup can be held outside Pakistan.
