Praise from Rohit on Virat! “We need a player like him in the team,” he said.

The second Test match between West Indies and India concluded in Trinidad on Monday (July 24). The match ended in a draw due to the continuous rain on the last day and the ground being unfit for play. With this, the Indian team won the series 1-0. Speaking after the match, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma praised senior batsman Virat Kohli.

The Indian team needed eight wickets on the last day to win this match. However, the match was decided to be a draw as no ball was played due to rain. Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony after the match, Rohit said,

“In Test cricket you need a player like Virat. Because, he knows well how to build the innings. You want all kinds of players. Depth and different options in the batting make the team strong. We try to make a good team.”

Virat completed his 29th Test century in this match. This was his 76th century in international cricket. He scored 121 runs off 206 balls with 11 fours before his dismissal. Due to his innings, the Indian team was successful in building a big score.

If we consider this match, the Indian team had reached 438 in the first innings while batting first. In reply, the hosts scored 255 runs. After that, India declared the innings after scoring 182 runs in their second innings and set a target of 365 runs in front of West Indies. However, the match ended in a draw on the last day as the game could not be played due to rain.
