The ODI and Test squads for the Indian team’s tour of the West Indies in July have been announced recently. It is seen that many changes have been made in the Test team for this tour. Most importantly, Cheteshwar Pujara, the leading batsman of the Indian Test team, could not make a place in this team. However, he may be selected in the West Division squad for the Duleep Trophy tournament.
Pujara was dropped from the Indian Test team due to his continued poor performances. The Western Division squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy will be announced soon. Pujara can get a place in this team. Suryakumar Yadav is also likely to be included in this team along with him. The Duleep Trophy tournament will begin on June 28.
Gujarat’s Priyank Panchal can lead the West Division team. Along with Pujara and Suryakumar, Prithvi Shaw will also be a part of this team. Mumbai’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Maharashtra’s Rituraj Gaikwad were likely to be part of the team. However, these two will not be included in the team as they have been selected in the Test team for the West Indies tour. Apart from this, fast bowlers Jaydev Unadkad and Akshar Patel will also not be included in the squad as they are going on West Indies tour. West Division will play its first match from July 4.
Duleep Trophy will see teams from six divisions playing this time. In this, North East along with West Division, South Division, North Division, East Division and Central Division will play.
