Puneri Bappa team’s Rituraj and Pawan hit half centuries, read the news

Pune. Rituraj Gaikwad (64 runs) and Pawan Shah (57 runs) scored half-centuries in the opening match of the Maharashtra Premier League cricket tournament organized by the Maharashtra Cricket Association.

In the first match of the tournament which started today at the stadium of Maharashtra Cricket Association in Gahunje, Maharashtra Ranji player Ankit Bavane’s knock of 72 runs off 57 balls in the opening match allowed Kolhapur Tuskers team to challenge Puneri Bappa team for 145 runs in 20 overs for victory.

A huge number of cricket fans gathered at the stadium to enjoy the tournament. Maharashtra Cricket Association president Rohit Pawar threw the coin. Pune captain Rituraj Gaikwad won the toss and accepted the bowler.

Kedar Jadhav (25 off 22 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) and Ankit Bavane gave the Kolhapur team a quick start. Rohan Damle broke the pair by dismissing Kedar Jadhav. After that, MPL’s most expensive player Naushad Shaikh returned to the tent with 20 off just 24 balls. After that, Kolhapur’s innings fell from 119 for 2 to 144 for 7.

Piyush Chawla (3-18) and Sachin Bhosale (3-40) took three wickets each for Puneri Bappa.

In reply to this Puneri Bappa team finished with 145 for 2 in 14.1 overs. Rituraj Gaikwad scored 64 runs in 27 balls with the help of 5 fours and 5 sixes. He was supported by Pawan Shah with a moderate innings of 57 runs in 48 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. The opening pair put on a partnership of 110 runs off 61 balls to lay the foundation for the team’s victory. After that, Rituraj Gaikwad was caught by Ankit Bavane off the bowling of Shreyas Chavan. After this, Pawan Shah shared a partnership of 32 runs in 24 balls with Suraj Shinde (17 not out) to take the team (142 runs) close to victory.
