R Ashwin’s feat! Banalai is the second Patthya in the world to perform ‘such’ in his homeland

The fourth and final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is being played between India and Australia. In this Ahmedabad Test match, the way the Australian players batted powerfully, the Indian bowlers also shone. Among them, R Ashwin, an experienced spinner, made a special record. Ashwin has become the second player not only in India but also in the world to achieve such a performance.

Australia team won the toss and decided to bat in this match. Struggling in the first three Tests, Australia batted with a plow in the fourth Test. They made a mountain of 480 runs losing all the wickets in the first innings. R Ashwin did the feat of taking the most wickets. He meanwhile has taken 6 wickets while bowling 47.2 overs for 91 runs.

Ashwin took the wicket of Todd Murphy on the third ball of the 165th over. Murphy returned to the tent on 41 this time. Murphy became Ashwin’s fifth wicket. As soon as he took this wicket, Ashwin created history. Ashwin became the second bowler in the world to complete the quintet of wickets most times while playing at home. He has done this feat 26 times so far.

Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan is the top bowler to complete the five-wicket haul at home most times. He has completed the quintet of wickets 45 times. Jointly with Ashwin at the second position in this list is another Sri Lankan legend Rangana Herath. He has also done this feat 26 times. On the third place in the list is Indian legend Anil Kumble who has done this feat 25 times, while England legend James Anderson has done this feat 24 times. (Most five-wicket hauls at home overall)
