Rahul received strong support from Windies stalwarts while being heavily criticized; Said, ‘A thousand times…’

Indian cricket team’s opening batsman KL Rahul is currently going through his worst form. Be it ODI, T20 or Test, he seems to be a complete flop in every form of cricket. Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 is currently being played. It has been a flop in two matches of this 4-match Test series. Therefore, he is being heavily criticized from all levels. His Test average is also falling. He scored 17 and 1 in two innings in the Delhi Test match. Before that, Nagpur was bowled out for 20 runs in the Test match. He has also been removed as vice-captain due to poor performance. Similarly, now Rahul has got the strong support of former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop.

Ian Bishop made it clear that he too had faced bad times. If trolled on social media, it will hurt the player. Interestingly, the matter came to a head when Aakash Chopra and Venkatesh Prasad had a spat over KL Rahul on Twitter. Prasad had directly said that Rahul should not be included in the final eleven. Because, he is being forced into the team. Also, Akash Chopra targeted Venkatesh and extended his support to Rahul. In this case, the bishop also jumped. Bishop said it is fine to voice opinions, but it is not good to see many people making it a personal issue over Rahul’s case.

Speaking to the media, he said, “I do not want to comment on this controversy. I think this is a part of every cricketer’s life. I’ve been through it as a player. It’s just that it’s being magnified a thousandfold. As in some countries. Because, the population size is huge.”

He further said, “When you look outside, you think about yourself. Well, it’s good to discuss, but in the end he’s a man. It is not easy to see him being trolled through social media. He is a talented player. He will need time to find his way in different types of cricket. I don’t want to get into that personal argument. People go. This should not happen.”
