Former Indian team coach Ravi Shastri has expressed a wish, indirectly raising questions on the BCCI selection committee. Shastri stepped down as India’s head coach after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Similarly, now he has expressed his wish that the meeting of the selection committee should be telecasted live.

Ravi Shastri was appointed as India’s head coach for the first time in 2017. After that, he was appointed to this post for the second time in 2019. After the 2021 T20 World Cup, Matra stepped down as the team’s coach. Rahul Dravid is taking charge as the head coach of India after this. Ravi Shastri () had recently commented that he was never invited to a selection committee meeting when he was India’s head coach. Shastri had also said that people from outside the management used to be present in this meeting.

In an interview given to a news media, Shastri has demanded that the selection committee meeting be held live. Shastri said in this interview, “It is my dream to watch the live meeting of the selection committee. Watching the selection committee meeting will be a truly wonderful experience. This decision can be important. This can be done if transparency is desired. Also the rights of the meeting can be sold after the broadcast. Selectors can also get five times additional remuneration due to increase in income. This can be really special and give a new perspective.”

Meanwhile, the former chairman of the selection committee, Chetan Sharma, resigned from his post a few days ago. Chetan Sharma had to leave the post due to involvement in a sting operation. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Shiv Sundar Das is serving as the in-charge chairman of the selection committee. BCCI needs a new candidate for this responsibility in the coming time.
