Ravi Shastri’s perfect reply to Michael Vaughan who spoke about ball tampering, read what he said
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made a comeback for the Indian team in the first match of the Border Gavaskar Test series. Jadeja took five wickets in the first innings on Thursday (February 9), playing his first match back from injury. However, a video of it went viral, leading to accusations from the Australian media that Jadeja had tampered with the ball. Former England captain Michael Vaughan also commented on the video and criticized Jadeja. Former Indian team coach Ravi Shastri has responded to Vaughan.
The first Test match between India and Australia (IND vs AUS) is being played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. The first day of this Test match between the two teams remained in the name of India. Ravindra Jadeja’s spin bowled the Australian team for just 177 runs. Jadeja conceded 47 runs in 22 overs and took the most five wickets. Although he was praised for this performance, he was accused of ball tampering by the Australian media.
A video of Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj is currently going viral on social media. In the video, Siraj is seen putting something on Jadeja’s finger. Based on the same video, Jadeja was accused of ball tampering. Meanwhile, the referee of the match himself asked the skipper Rohit Sharma and Jadeja about it, to which Jadeja said that he had applied ointment to his finger as it was pulled. After Jadeja’s explanation, the referee ended the matter here. However, it is being discussed in the media.
Michael Vaughan commented on Fox Cricket’s tweet about this. Vaughan said, “What is he putting on his spinning finger? I have never seen anything like this before.” Commenting on this live, Shastri said, “I haven’t heard much about it. But I have two questions. The first question is, did the match referee say anything about this? He has clarified this point. Another question is, did this cause any problems for the Australian team? This matter is settled. So why should we discuss someone who has talked about this. Also you don’t need to do anything on this type of pitch. The ball is spinning with the mind.”
Meanwhile, considering the overall score of this match between the two teams, India had scored 77 for one by the end of the first day’s play. By the end of the second day’s play, India scored 321 for 7. Rohit Sharma, in a performance befitting the captaincy, scored a century and lifted the team’s tally.
