Ravindra Jadeja made history! Only Jaddu will be named after Kapil Dev in international cricket
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Wednesday (March 1) completed 500 wickets in his international career. The third Test between India and Australia started on Wednesday at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Jadeja dealt the first blow to the Australian team after India were dismissed cheaply in the first innings. After taking the wicket of opener Travis Head, Jadeja became the second all-rounder after Ravindra Jadeja Kapil Dev, setting a unique record for India.
In the first innings of the Indore Test against Australia, the Indian team was bundled out for 109 runs. Important batsmen Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara were dismissed cheaply. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also failed to perform as expected in batting. But when it came time to bowl, Jadeja gave India their first breakthrough. Usman Khawaja and Travis Head opened Australia’s innings while David Warner returned to the field due to injury. Usman Khawaja continued to play a restrained innings, but Travis Head lost his wicket for just 9 runs. This is spinner Jadeja’s 500th wicket in his international career and he has made a special record.
Jadeja became the second Indian all-rounder to complete 5000 runs and 500 wickets in international cricket. Earlier this performance was done by Kapil Dev, the captain who won the first World Cup for the Indian team. Jadeja has so far scored 5527 runs in international cricket and also completed 500 wickets of his own on Wednesday.
