Record breaker Rohit! A great feat was done directly surpassing Viru and Gavaskar

The West Indies vs India first Test begins on Wednesday (July 12) at the Windsor Park ground in Dominica. After a one-sided dominance on the first day of the match, the Indian team got off to a strong start in the first session on the second day as well. Captain Rohit Sharma completed his fifteenth half-century in his Test career. With this, he broke the records of India’s all-time great openers Sunil Gavaskar and Virender Sehwag.

The Indian team started the second day’s play on 80 runs without defeat. Earlier Yashasvi Jaiswal completed his first career half-century. So, Rohit also smashed his half-century without wasting more time. It was his fifteenth Test half-century. With this he scored more than 50 for the 102nd time in his career as an opener.

As an opener in international cricket for India, Sachin Tendulkar scored the most 50-plus runs 120 times. After that, Rohit has now come at the second position. India’s legendary openers Virender Sehwag and Sunil Gavaskar have done this feat 101 times each.
