Lucknow Super Giants Vs. Mumbai Indians face each other at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday (May 24). Mumbai virtually neutralized the Lucknow team in this match and won by 81 runs. Now they will face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier Two. The hero of Mumbai’s victory was young fast bowler Akash Madhwal. He showed the way to the tent for five batsmen while bowling sharp. Speaking after the match, he credited Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma for his performance.
Akash did not let the innings of the Lucknow team settle down from the beginning while chasing the big run for victory. He first dismissed opener Prerak Mankad. After that Ayush Badhoni and Nicholas Pooran were shown the way to the tent on successive balls. He then ended Lucknow’s innings by dismissing Ravi Bishnoi and Mohsin Khan. He bowled 3.3 overs for 5 runs and sent five batsmen to the tent. This was the best performance in IPL play offs history.
Akash credited Rohit Sharma for his performance and said,
“Rohit Bhaiya gave me a lot of confidence. They hand me the ball when they need it. Bowling at the right time gives motivation to perform well. They believe in my yorkers.”
Batting first in this match, Mumbai Indians scored 182 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Cameron Green contributed the most in this. He played an innings of 41 runs. He shared a 38-ball 66-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav (33) for the third wicket. Chasing this challenge, Lucknow’s innings ended on 101 runs in 16.3 overs.
