The second Test match between India and Australia is being played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. For India’s legendary Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, this is his 100th Test match. Pujara completed his 100 Test matches as soon as he set foot at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday. But former legend Gautam Gambhir feels that while playing under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Pujara was misbehaved in this match.
India is leading 1-0 in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia (IND vs AUS). India won the first match of the four-match series by an innings and 132 runs. India lost the toss and bowled first in the first match which started on Friday (February 17). Under the leadership of captain Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara (Cheteshwar Pujara) came to the field to play his 100th Test match. But according to Gautam Gambhir, Rohit fielded him in the wrong place. According to Gambhir, it was not appropriate to field a senior player like Pujara at short (closer to the pitch).
In a cricket match, preferably the freshers are fielded at short. But Gambhir expressed displeasure as Rohit Sharma put Pujara here. Former India opener Gautam Gambhir said, “Whoever is young and new to the team, he is brought in to field here. Pujara has undergone surgery on both his knees and is also batting on the pitch for a long time. The captain should understand this.”
“The captain should understand that the player who is going to bat in the top order is not suitable to be fielded here. A lot of bending down is required here. And that leads to fatigue. In this case, the player fielding at short has difficulty while batting. He has to face difficulties,” Gambhir added. (Gautam Gambhir fumed at Rohit Sharma for misplacing Cheteshwar Pujara, who is playing in his 100th Test, for fielding.)
