Young Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma hit centuries on the second day of the first Test match being played at the Windsor Park ground in Dominica. This was Rohit’s 10th Test century. Along with this, he further enhanced his impressive Test statistics against the West Indies.

Rohit, who was unbeaten on 30 runs on the first day, showed some cautious play in the first session on the second day. Meanwhile, he completed his fifteenth half-century. As the second session began after lunch, he took a somewhat aggressive stance and collected four sixes. After Jaiswal’s century, Rohit also scored his fifteenth century in Test career by hitting two fours without wasting much time. However, he was dismissed on the next ball and returned. He scored 103 off 221 balls before being dismissed. This included 10 fours and 2 sixes.

This was only Rohit’s fifth Test innings against the West Indies. Interestingly, in three of these five innings, he has been successful in crossing the century mark. On his debut against the same team in Kolkata in 2013, he scored an unbeaten knock of 177 in the first match and 111 in the second match in Mumbai. He scored nine and 41 runs in the next two innings respectively. After that, he scored another century against the West Indies to make his tally even more impressive.

After the end of the second day’s play, the Indian team now has a lead of 162 runs in this Test match. Yashasvi Jaiswal is 143 while Virat Kohli is unbeaten with 36 runs. The Indian team will try to take full control of the match by taking a big lead on the third day.
