Speaking to the media, Gavaskar said how Rohit used Akash Madhwal to dismiss Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran in the same over. The captain advised them to change the angle, but this was not discussed much.

Gavaskar also praised the Mumbai Indians team on this occasion. He said that despite a poor start in IPL 2023, the Mumbai team did not give up. They lost 4 of their opening seven matches.
