England’s legendary batsman Joe Root will be seen playing in the Indian Premier League for the first time this year. The Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals have roped him in for IPL 2023. Root has joined the Rajasthan Royals camp ahead of the start of the upcoming season. Rajasthan opener Jos Buttler recently welcomed Root by giving him the team jersey. Root also expressed his happiness after joining the team and also praised the players in the team. Especially the captain Samson was felt to have a good influence on the route.

The IPL 2023 season will begin on Friday (March 31) and Rajasthan Royals will play their first match on Sunday (April 2). Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Rajasthan in the first match. Earlier, Joe Root praised his teammates Ravichandran Ashwin, Ryan Parag and captain Sanju Samson.

In an interview to a news media, Root said, “Last year was special for Rajasthan Royals. I have always enjoyed Sanju Samson’s batting. I think he is very talented. He is improving every year as a player and captain.” According to Root, the Rajasthan Royals camp has a home-like atmosphere.

Joe Root added, “It feels like home here. After the auction team bought me, I was well received. Every player in the team strives to make the atmosphere better than the performance on the field. I am ready for the upcoming season and ready to contribute.” Last year, under the leadership of Samson, the Rajasthan Royals team reached the final.
