Sensational Shami! Records were made by destroying Delhi’s batting

In IPL 2023, on Tuesday (May 2), the first-placed Gujarat Titans and last-placed Delhi Capitals clashed. Delhi captain David Warner won the toss and elected to bat first in this match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, Gujarat’s leading fast bowler Mohammad Shami called his decision wrong.

Phil Salt, the opener for Delhi, was forced by Shami to be caught by Miller on the very first ball. Then in his second over, he showed Riley Russo the way to the tent. He dismissed Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg in his third over. In this match, he gave only 11 runs in his four overs and showed the way to the tent for 4 batsmen.

Throughout this season, Shami has been seen playing a key role in Gujarat’s campaign. Currently he has 17 wickets to his name along with Tushar Deshpande. However, due to excellent economy rate, Shami has got the purple cap on his head. What is special about Shami is that he has got 12 of his 17 wickets in the power play. So, his strike rate is also 12.50.

After this performance, Shami moved up to the second best Indian bowler in the power play in IPL history. Shami took 4 wickets in the power play giving 7 runs in this match. In this regard, the honor of best bowling in IPL goes to Ishant Sharma. He took 5 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011 while playing for Deccan Chargers. So, Dhawal Kulkarni took 3 wickets in 8 runs.
