As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, three charges against Danushka Gunathilaka have been withdrawn. A total of four different allegations were leveled against him by the accused woman. According to information, Gunathilaka met this woman through a dating app. Later the two got to know each other and became good friends. But after a few days, their relationship soured and a 29-year-old woman leveled allegations of sexual abuse against Gunathilaka. According to media reports, “Prosecutor Hugh Badin told the court that one charge was being proved. But three charges of non-consensual sexual abuse have been withdrawn.”

Gunathilaka was part of the Sri Lankan team in last year’s T20 World Cup. He was also part of Sri Lanka’s playing eleven in the World Cup match against Namibia. But then he was out of the tournament due to injury. In his overall career, he has played 8 Tests, 45 ODIs and 46 T20 Internationals for the Sri Lankan team. He has 299 runs to his name in Tests, while Thie has scored 1601 runs in ODIs. He has been able to score 741 runs in the T20 format.
