Shivam Dubey erased the stamp of ‘flop’! IPL 2023 is the time of the bowlers
The 61st match of IPL 2023 was played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Kolkata defeated Chennai by 6 wickets in this match played on Sunday (May 14). Although Chennai lost the match, Shivam Dubey, who has been the spearhead of Chennai’s batting this season, once again grabbed everyone’s attention with his batting.
Chennai’s batsmen, who have been performing consistently, suffered some setbacks in this match. Both the openers and Ajinkya Rahane could not perform to their heart’s content. At that time, Shivam Dubey once again took the responsibility on his shoulders. He remained unbeaten till the end and scored 48 off 34 balls. This included one four and three sixes. He missed out on a half-century as he didn’t get much chance in the last over.
Dubey has been playing in the IPL for the past five years. After playing two years for RCB and one year for Rajasthan, he joined the Chennai team last year. He made his mark there. Considering his performance this season, his game seems to have improved tremendously. He has scored 363 runs at an average of 40.33 in eleven innings from 13 matches. Meanwhile, his strike rate remained strong at 157.14. Interestingly, he has completed his 228 runs with only six fours. He has a record of 30 sixes and 12 fours in the season.
Speaking after the match against KKR, Chennai captain MS Dhoni praised him, saying that he has given us the performance we expected. He may not be an important part of the team for many more years in the future.
