The ICC said Shubman Gill faced punishment for criticizing the decision to dismiss him on the fourth day of the Test. Gill breached Article 2.7, which deals with public criticism or inappropriate comments relating to an incident at an international match. Gill was fined 15 percent of his match fee for this.

In fact, Shubman Gill was dismissed by Australian fast bowler Scott Boland in both the innings of the final match. In the first innings, Boland took Gill for a triple. Then in the second innings, Boland caught Gill off Cameron Green who was standing in the sleep.
