Sikandar Raza broke the 19-year-old record, the first time such a thing has happened

The ODI World Cup 2023 schedule has been announced on Tuesday (June 27). Two new teams are waiting for this World Cup. For this, the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Qualifier round is being played. So when the Zimbabwean team once again entered the field in the Super 6 round, the brilliant all-rounder Sikandar Raza created another record-breaking innings. He broke the 19-year-old record held by a former player of his own country.

Sikandar Raza’s 4000 runs in ODIs
The first match of the Super 6 was played between Zimbabwe vs Oman. Zimbabwe won this match by 14 runs. Sikandar Raza scored 42 runs off 49 balls from Zimbabwe in this match. He missed out on a half-century this time, but crossed the 4000-run mark in ODIs. He played 127 innings to reach this milestone. Interestingly, this innings is the shortest innings Zimbabwe have played to reach 4000 runs in ODIs.

Before Raza, Grand Flower had held the record of 4000 runs in 128 innings. He retired in 2004 after scoring 6000 runs. That is, no one could break this record after him. However, now Sikander Raza has gone beyond Flower. Additionally, Brendon Taylor also crossed the 4000 run mark in 129 innings. Andy Flopper Flower scored 133 innings and Sean Williams scored 135 innings.

Sikandar Raza gains in ICC rankings
Sikandar Raza has batted and bowled brilliantly in the last few matches. So he got a good advantage in the recently announced ICC rankings. He is third in the list of all-rounders with 282 points. The team will still play at least 2 Super 6 matches. Only if they perform well in these matches, the team can get to play more matches. Interestingly, the team can then be seen playing key matches in the World Cup.

Sikandar Raza was playing for Punjab Kings in IPL 2023 a few months ago. During this time, he won the Man of the Match award 2 times.
