“Siraj wants to be the Virat of bowling”, the former coach told the story
Currently, Mohammad Siraj is named as the leading fast bowler of the Indian cricket team. He is the leading Indian pacer in ODI and Test cricket. He has been at his best in the past year and has also topped the ODI bowling rankings. After his success, India’s former bowling coach Bharat Arun revealed an old memory about him.
Siraj has been India’s most successful ODI bowler since 2021. In the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka as well as New Zealand, he bowled strongly and grabbed the first position in the ODI rankings. After his success, India’s former bowling coach Bharat Arun looked very happy. He recounted an old memory of Siraj.
Speaking at a program, he said,
“Siraj came to me after playing his first season with RCB a few years ago. He is a big fan of Virat. He came to me and told me, I would like to be like Virat. I said that you will have to sacrifice a lot for that. He agreed and showed his readiness to make any effort and sacrifice.”
Siraj became a member of the Indian team when Arun was the bowling coach of the Indian team. After failing initially, he transformed himself drastically after IPL 2020. He was the mainstay of the Indian team that won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After that, he is seen shining consistently in international cricket. Arun, who resigned as the bowling coach of the Indian team after the 2021 T20 World Cup, is currently the coach of Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
