Smith shines in ICC dismissals, equals Kallis-Sangkara in ‘Ya’ record, but fails to break Virat’s record

Steve Smith is one of Australia’s best Test batsmen at the moment. Smith is currently batting for India vs Australia in the ongoing World Test Championship 2023 final. In the meantime, Smith has achieved a special feat by raining runs from his bat. He has become the third batsman to score most 50-plus runs in an ICC innings. Interestingly, the first two names on the list are Indian.

What is Smith’s record?
Indian team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl on Wednesday (June 07). David Warner and Usman Khawaja started the innings from Australia while batting first. However, Khawaja was dismissed early. Warner and Marnus Labusche then put on a 69-run partnership for the second wicket. This time, after Warner was dismissed, Steve Smith came to bat at number four. This time he scored a half-century off 144 balls. Along with this half century, he also achieved a special feat.

Steve Smith became the third batsman to score 50 or more runs in an ICC innings. He has achieved this feat for the fifth time so far. He is joint third with Jacques Kallis and Kumar Sangakkara. Kallis and Sangakkara also have the most number of 50 or more runs in an innings with 5 times each.
