Steve Smith eager to play under Pujara before WTC final! Said, ‘I hope…’
Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith is all set to make his debut in county cricket. India and Australia will face each other in the final match of the World Test Championship. In the wake of this match, Smith wants to prepare in England and will play some matches with Sussex. Interestingly, here Smith will have to play under the leadership of Indian legend Cheteshwar Pujara.
In the month of April this year, Cheteshwar Pujara became the regular captain of the Sussex team for the first time. Chale has been a strong performer for the team in the current county season, earning him the captaincy of the team. Now former Australian captain Steve Smith will be seen playing for Sussex under the leadership of Pujara. The final match of the World Test Championship i.e. WTC will be played in the month of June. In this, India and Australia teams are facing each other. Of course, Pujara and Smith will also play against each other in this match. However, before that, the two legends will be seen playing together for Sussex in May.
Smith also seems eager to play under Pujara. According to Smith, the players have already had the chance to play alongside the international giants of opposing teams through the IPL. However, he is more excited to play county cricket with Pujara. “The day I stop wanting to learn something new about cricket, I will probably stop playing cricket,” Smith said on Sussex’s website. I am also looking forward to playing with Pujara. I have played against him a lot. He has also seen a lot of runs against Australia. Hopefully on the pitch we will spend time with each other and learn more about each other.”
Meanwhile, before the IPL 2023, the Australian team under the leadership of Smith played a Test and ODI series against India. After the end of the current IPL season, the WTC Final between India and Australia will be played from June 7 to 11. After that, the Australian team has to play a five-match Ashes series in England from June 16. (Steve Smith eager to play under Pujara before WTC final)
