Former Indian batsman Suresh Raina is all set to make a comeback from league cricket. In the upcoming Langa Premier League, fans can get to see Raina’s batting once again. The upcoming Lanka Premier League will start on July 30 and before that the player auction will be held on June 14.
Suresh Raina is one of the greatest cricketers of the Indian cricket team. He represented Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (Lanka Premier League 2023) for several years. Raina has been instrumental in helping CSK win the first four IPL trophies. This year, the franchise won its fifth IPL trophy, but Raina was not part of the team this time. Although he did not get a chance in the IPL, Raina has not given up yet. He has entered his name in the player auction for the upcoming Langa Premier League. 50000 US dollars will be its base price.
Earlier, at the age of 36, Suresh Raina had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in September 2022. Then in December 2022, Raina played in the Abu Dhabi T-10 League. In this league he scored 36 runs in 3 matches while representing Deccan Gladiators. He also participated in Legends League Cricket in the month of March this year. He was also seen playing the role of a commentator in the recently concluded IPL 2023. Raina’s stats in the IPL have been tremendous. He has played a total of 205 matches in this league. He has scored 5528 runs at an average of 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.76. It also includes 39 fifties and one century. He ranks fifth in the list of highest run-scorers in IPL.
More than 500 players will participate in the LPL auction
Meanwhile, like the IPL, the Lankan Premier League will hold a player auction. The five franchises participating in the auction will be allowed to spend US$500,000 each on players.
