The Indian team has started preparations for the Test series against West Indies. The two-match Test series will begin on July 12. The name of the star batsman of domestic cricket Sarfaraz Khan is not in the 16-member Indian team selected for this. However, the Test squad chosen by the team management for this tour seems to be right in a sense.
Sarfraz Khan (Sarfraz Khan) has been performing tremendously in domestic cricket in the last few years. After playing a few matches in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, Sarfraz is once again playing domestic cricket. The first semi-final match of Duleep Trophy 2023 is between West Zone and Central Zone. On the first day, Surfara’s West Zone team was seen struggling to score runs. Opener Prithvi Shaw, veteran Cheteshwar Pujara, skipper Priyank Panchal and Suryakumar Yadav were all dismissed cheaply. Fast bowler Shivam Mavi took the maximum four wickets for the Central Zone on the first day.
Sarfaraz Khan was not in good form even in IPL 2023. However, he was expected to be selected for the Test series against the West Indies. The Indian selectors preferred Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rituraj Gaikwad ahead of Sarfraz for the tour. This decision of the team management and selectors had sparked a lot of controversy. But after seeing Sarfaraz’s performance in the Duleep Trophy semi-final, the fans are likely to lose steam. Apart from Sarfaraz, Suryakumar and Pujara have also not been selected for the Test series against West Indies.
Sarfaraz was dismissed for just 12 runs in the first innings of the semi-final match. They lost four key early wickets when the team scored 63. By the end of the day’s play, West Zone had scored 218 for 8. Prithvi Shaw 26, Priyank Panchal 13, Cheteshwar Pujara 28, while Suryakumar contributed just 7 runs. Meanwhile, the second semi-final match of Duleep Trophy is underway as North Zone vs South Zone. (Suryakumar Yadav and Sarfraz Khan failed in Duleep Trophy)
