Team players are the most important! Dhoni praises teammates after sealing playoff ticket

Delhi Capitals lost to Chennai Super Kings on Saturday (May 20). CSK scored 223 runs while batting first. In reply, Delhi had to settle for 146 runs. CSK won the match by 77 runs and secured a place in the playoffs. After the match, Dhoni explained the reason behind CSL’s success.

MS Dhoni spoke to the media after defeating Delhi Capitals to book CSK a place in the playoffs. He said, “There is no substitute for success. But it can be achieved by believing in our team players and giving them the confidence to perform at their best.” Dhoni has qualified for the playoffs for the 12th time in his 14 IPL seasons. Dhoni was also asked about his team’s consistency in the playoffs.

To this Dhoni replied, “There is no set method for this. We pick the best players and play them in the right place. He takes practice from the players where they are weak. Credit should also be given to the team management. But the most important role is played by the players. If there are no players, we will not be able to do anything. We are not looking at the individual performance of the players, we are only looking at the performance of the team.”

Overall the match between the two teams, CSK’s bowlers including Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were also seen to perform brilliantly. Rituraj scored 79 off 50 balls, while Conway top scored with 87 off 52 balls. Deepak Chahar was the most successful in the bowling department. Chahar spent 22 runs in 4 overs and took 3 wickets. Mahisha Thikshana and Mathisha Pathirana took two wickets each. Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja got one wicket each. (the players are most important, said MS Dhoni)
