On 23 March 2002, the second Test match of the Test series was played between New Zealand and England in Wellington. Ben Holyoake, who was born in Australia but later played for England, was named among the best all-rounders of the time. He died in a car accident at the age of 24. Holyoke’s car crashed into the wall of his childhood school in Perth. The entire cricket world was shocked by this incident. The accident took place when he was traveling in a car to attend a family function. He also became the first English player to die at the youngest age.

He made his first-class cricket debut in 1996. He took 4 wickets while playing for Yorkshire. Then at the age of just 19, he was given the opportunity to make his debut in the series against Australia. He scored 63 runs off 48 balls in the third match of this series. He also won the man of the match award.
