Jasprit Bumrah, the leading fast bowler of the Indian cricket team, has been struggling with a back injury since August last year. He has also missed several important tournaments due to this injury and all eyes are on when he will make a comeback. At the same time, former Indian fast bowler RP Singh suggested the name of Mohammad Siraj as a viable alternative to Bumrah.

Jasprit Bumrah is seen as the spearhead of the Indian team’s bowling attack. He has not played in any major tournament since last year’s Asia Cup. He was banned after playing two matches in the T20I series against Australia in September last year. He has yet to step into the field after that. He underwent surgery last month and is resting.

Talking about Bumrah’s place in the Indian team, RP said,

“Definitely he is India’s best bowler. However, in his absence, Mohammad Siraj proved himself as his replacement. His performance in the last year is impressive. I have been keeping an eye on him since the beginning of his career and he has made significant strides in himself. His fitness is good, he will be the future Mohammed Shami of India.”

Siraj has remained in the top three ODI rankings for quite some time now. His performance for RCB has been tremendous in the current season of IPL as well. He has taken 15 wickets in the 9 matches he has played so far, making him second in the race to win the Purple Cap.
