The bowlers stopped, the batsmen chopped! Delhi’s resounding victory over UP, beating Mumbai to reach the final
On Tuesday (Sun), cricket lovers got a chance to enjoy the double header matches in the Women’s Premier League 2023 tournament. In fact, it was the last day of the chain round. The first match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore Women vs Mumbai Indians Women. Mumbai won this match by 4 wickets. Then the second i.e. 20th match of the tournament was played in Delhi Capitals women’s team against UP Warriors. Delhi won this match by 5 wickets. Interestingly, winning this match earned Delhi a ticket to the final of the WPL tournament.
In this match Delhi Capitals Women team captain Meg Lanning won the toss and decided to bowl. Batting first this time, UP Warriorz scored 138 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. This challenge Delhi scored 142 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 17.5 overs and also won by 5 wickets.

Batting for Delhi, Meg Lanning scored a blistering 39 off 23 balls. This included 2 sixes and 5 fours. Apart from her, Elise Capsey chipped in with 34 runs. Also, Mariza Cape also scored an unbeaten 34. Apart from her, Shefali Verma made a valuable contribution of 21 runs. This time, Jemima Rodriguez had to settle for 3 runs. However, in the end the team won.
This time, while bowling from UP, Shabneem Ismail took the most wickets. She took 2 wickets while bowling 3 overs for 29 runs. Apart from her, Soppadhandi Yashshree took 1 wicket to her name.
