In September last year, Sandeep was accused of raping a minor girl. After this the board suspended him. Also, he had to go to jail. Recently, he has been granted bail by the court and the ban imposed on him by the Cricket Board has also been lifted.

Sandeep Lamichhane has made a strong comeback on the field after coming out of jail. Sandeep is currently playing for Nepal in Cricket World Cup League 2. Also, he has troubled the opposition batsmen with his spin bowling. He had a strong performance against Scotland in a World Cup League 2 match on Tuesday (February 21) and took 4 wickets for 45 runs in 10 overs.

Sandeep played his first match for Nepal on 14 February after his release from jail. In that match he took 3 wickets for 66 runs against Namibia and led the team to a 2 wicket win. After this he has played 3 matches. Also, 3 wickets have been taken in each match.

Debut at the age of 18
Sandeep’s story of becoming a cricketer is very interesting. He made his debut for the Nepal team at the age of 18. The then Nepal coach Pubud Dasanayake caught the eye of Sandeep when he was 14 years old. In fact, Dasanayake was on his way to the wedding of a Nepal team bowler. Meanwhile, his car broke down on the way. Where they were staying, Sandeep saw them bowling.

The coaches noticed something different in Sandeep’s bowling. After that, the fortunes of this spinner changed. The very next year, he was seen playing against the MCC team that toured Nepal. Sandeep played for Nepal in the Under-19 World Cup in 2016 and took the most wickets for his country. He then became the first cricketer from Nepal to be sold in the IPL.
