The presidents of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh cricket boards will be present to watch the Indian Premier League 2023 final. At this time, BCCI and these three cricket boards can take an important decision about the Asia Cup together.

Chennai Super Kings have secured their spot in the Indian Premier League 2023 final. The winner of the qualifier between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans will play the IPL final against CSK on Sunday. The match will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The presidents of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh Cricket Boards have been invited by the BCCI to watch the match between the two teams. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board President will not be present to watch the match. In this way, an important decision regarding the Asia Cup can be taken by meeting the four cricket boards present in Ahmedabad.

BCCI Secretary Jai Shah () informed about this. Shah said, “The decision regarding the hosting of the Asia Cup has not been finalized yet. We are busy with IPL. But senior officials from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are coming to watch the IPL final. In the meantime we will have a discussion and a decision will be taken at the right time.”

Meanwhile, during the ICC T20 World Cup last year, Jay Shah had made it clear that the Indian team would not go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. Shah seems to be sticking to his word even today. As scheduled, Pakistan is hosting the Asia Cup. However, BCCI is not ready to send its team to Pakistan under any circumstances. A hybrid model was also introduced by the PCB, which planned to host all India’s matches outside Pakistan. But it is being said that even this model is not acceptable to BCCI.

A few weeks ago there were also reports that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh cricket boards have given support to the PCB to host the Asia Cup on a hybrid model. But there was no concrete information about this. In this case, what the BCCI officials discuss with the other three cricket boards in the final match of IPL will be important.
