The Legends! Anderson-Broad duo became only the second pair in history to take 1000 Test wickets together
The first match of the Test series between New Zealand and England is being played at Mount Mongui. The visiting England team dominated the first two days of the match. At the same time England’s most experienced fast bowling duo James Anderson and Stuart Broad created a big history in this Test. They became only the second pair to take 1000 Test wickets together.
In this double-team match, England declared their innings at 325 for 9 on the first day while batting fast. Before entering this match, the Anderson-Broad pair had a chance to take 1000 wickets in Test cricket together. He had taken 997 wickets in 132 Tests till then. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls, who came to bat on the first day, were taken to 999 by Anderson showing the way to the tent.
The next day he completed 1000 combined wickets by dismissing Neil Wagner in the first session itself. Earlier in international cricket, only Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath had done such a feat. He has 1001 wickets in 104 matches. Now the names of this pair also accumulated as many victims. New Zealand’s second innings will be their chance to get ahead of them.
Anderson and Broad are currently the world’s most capped players in international Tests among active cricketers. Anderson has so far taken 677 wickets in 178 matches. On the other hand, Broad has taken 567 wickets in 160 matches. India’s Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for playing most Test matches in international cricket, Sachin has represented India in 200 Tests.
