Ravi Shastri, the current head coach of the Indian team, is celebrating his 60th birthday today. He was born on 27 May 1962 in Mumbai.

He has played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India so far in his international career. In this he has scored 3830 runs in Tests at an average of 35.79. It includes 11 centuries and 12 fifties. He has also taken 151 wickets in Tests.

Along with this, he has scored 3108 runs in ODIs at an average of 29.04. It includes 4 centuries and 18 fifties. He has also taken 129 wickets in ODIs.

6. Shastri became a poster boy-
Shastri, the all-rounder of the Indian team, soon became a household name across India. So he became the ‘poster boy’ of India. His posters were put up all over India. Also the girls became his fans due to his performance. Shastri also had an affair with film actress Amrita Singh. After that, there were some reports that they broke up.

5. Shastri hit 6 sixes in 6 balls-
Shastri grabbed everyone’s attention with his batting storm while playing for Mumbai against Baroda in the 1985 Ranji Trophy. He had scored a double century in that match. He also hit 6 sixes in 6 balls off the bowling of Tilak Raj. He became the first Indian to do such a feat. Shastri scored 200 runs in just 123 balls in that match. It includes 13 fours and 13 sixes.

4. Immediate performance against Australia-
Shastri had batted immediately against a strong team like Australia. He scored 622 runs at an average of 77.75 in 9 Test matches. It includes 1 half century and 2 centuries. Apart from this, Shastri scored 4 centuries against England and 3 centuries against Pakistan. He also scored 2 centuries against West Indies.

3. Shastri, playing at number 10, became the opening batsman-
Shastri started his Test career as a No. 10 batsman. But within just 2 years, he started batting as a Test opener for the Indian team. Shastri excelled as an opening batsman in Tests. He has scored 1101 runs in 17 Tests at an average of 44.04. He scored 4 centuries while batting in the opener. In this he has also done a dvishak. He has not batted at just one number in Tests.

2. Debut at the age of 19-
Shastri made his Ranji Trophy debut for Mumbai at the age of just 17. Also, when he was studying in college, he got an opportunity to play for the Indian team. Shastri made his international debut on February 21, 1981 in the very first Test match against New Zealand in Wellington. He took 3 wickets each in two innings. He took 3 wickets in the second innings in just 4 balls. Dilip Vengsarkar took 3 catches on his bowling.
