The Indian Premier League i.e. IPL 2023 is just a few days away. But it seems Kolkata Knight Riders team is still not ready for the upcoming IPL season. Because it is being said that their captain Shreyas Iyer will not play in the upcoming IPL season due to injury. The Asat team needs a new captain.

If regular captain Shreyas Iyer does not play in the upcoming season, the team will have to give a chance to a new player as his replacement. Along with this, the team also needs a captain of that quality to fill his gap. KKR spent Rs 12.25 crore to buy Shreyas in mega auction ahead of IPL 2022. But now this star player will not be able to play in the upcoming season. Shreyas was part of the Indian squad for the Test and ODI series against Australia. But he injured his back during the third Test match played in Ahmedabad. Shreyas may need another 2 or 3 months to fully recover from this injury. In this article we are going to look at three players who can replace Shreyas Iyer to lead KKR in the upcoming IPL season.

1 – Shakib Al Hasan
Shakib Al Hasan’s name is included in the list of legendary all-rounders in world cricket. Thus, the Bangladesh legend can lead KKR in the upcoming IPL season. Shakib Allah Hasan has vast experience of leadership in international as well as franchise cricket.

2 – Sunil Narayan
In IPL 2012, KKR added Sunil Narine to their team. He has vast experience of playing franchise cricket and can lead KKR well in the upcoming IPL season. Sunil certainly has more league cricket experience than others in the team. When KKR won the IPL trophy twice, Sunil Narine was part of the team. He contributed both batting and bowling to lead the team to the title.

3 – Shardul Thakur
This is the first time for Shardul Thakur to play for KKR. But being an Indian player, he can get the captaincy of KKR in the upcoming season. Last season, Shardul Thakur could not perform well in both the batting and bowling departments. But this year he can shine for KKR.
