“There are no friends in the team now”, Ashwin’s sensational statement
India lost by 209 runs to Australia in the final match of the World Test Championship. India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was out of the playing eleven in the final match. The team management and captaincy were criticized for not giving Ashwin a chance to play. The fury of the fans has not subsided yet. Similarly, Ashwin has now given an interview in which he has spoken many things from his heart.
Ashwini recently gave an interview after returning to India. In this, he expressed his opinion on many things from his career to retirement. Expressing his opinion about the current team, he said,
“There are no friends in the Indian team now. These are all colleagues. There was a time when teammates were friends. This is a huge difference. Now here everyone wants to advance themselves. So no one has time to ask what are you doing? It’s a lonely journey.”
Speaking in the same interview, he also said that he wanted to play in the final of the World Test Championship. However, he also admitted that the environment in England did not make it possible. Also, despite being a good batsman, I decided to pursue a career in bowling which will eventually hit me somewhere, he also said.
Ashwin is India’s second most successful spinner in international cricket. He has taken the most Test wickets for India after Anil Kumble. Also, he currently holds the top position in the world Test bowling rankings.
