The ICC ODI World Cup will be organized in India in the month of October-November. The schedule for this World Cup was announced on Tuesday (June 27). The host Indian team is considered as the title contender in this World Cup. The Indian team will try to win the World Cup once again after twelve years. Meanwhile, India’s former selection committee chairman K Srikanth has called Ravindra Jadeja an important player for this World Cup.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is sure to get a chance in the upcoming World Cup. He is the team’s most experienced all-rounder and can contribute in all three departments of the game. He is considered to be a key player in India’s World Cup campaign. While this is the case, Srikanth has also reiterated this word. He said,
“Indian team has a good chance to win the World Cup. This time Ravindra Jadeja can do for the Indian team what Yuvraj Singh did in 2011. His experience has also improved and he will definitely benefit from playing on his home turf.”
Yuvraj Singh became the Man of the Series in 2011 World Cup. He battled cancer throughout the tournament and played a major role in helping India win. He also took 15 wickets while scoring more than 300 runs. Like him, Jadeja is also a left-arm batsman and spinner. He plays in all three types of teams in India. Hence, he is likely to play the role of finisher along with Hardik Pandya while batting at lower order. He will also lead India’s spin bowling.
