Usman Khawaja is unlikely to bat for the second time in the Ahmedabad Test match between India and Australia. Khawaja scored 180 runs in the first innings for Australia in this fourth Test match between the two teams. Even in the second innings, it was reported that he will not play when the fans were expecting a similar explosive performance from him. It is said that he will not play in the second innings due to the injury sustained on the fourth day of the match.
The fourth Test match between India and Australia () is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This fourth and last match of the series saw the batsmen of both the teams play hard. Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green (114) scored centuries for Australia in the first innings. Virat Kohli (186) and Shubman Gill (128) contributed centuries for India. Usman Khawaja injured his leg while fielding on the fourth day of the match. It is being said that he will not come to bat on the last day of the match for this reason.
After the leg injury, Khawaja was taken for a scan, but the scan did not reveal anything clear about the injury. So it seems that Khwaja’s injury is not serious. However, he did not come for the opening as the pain in his leg did not subside. After the Indian team was bowled out in the last session on the fourth day, the Australian team got a chance to bowl for the second time. Travis Head and spinner Matthew Kuhneman opened the innings for Australia. Australia scored 3 runs unbeaten till the end of the fourth day’s play.
On the final day of the match, Kuhneman was dismissed for 6 runs off the spin of Ravichandran Ashwin in the first session. Khawaja was expected to bat at number two after Australia lost the first wicket. But he did not come to bat even at number two. After Kuhneman lost his wicket, the team management sent in Marnus Labuschagne. Meanwhile, considering the overall nature of this match between the two teams, India bowled first after losing the toss. Batting first, Australia lost all wickets for 480 runs. In reply, India scored 571 runs and lost all wickets. After the first innings, the Indian team took a lead of 91 runs. With only a few hours left to play, it is almost certain that the match will be a draw.
