The 15th match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Qualifier Round was played on Sunday (June 25) between Sri Lanka and Ireland. The Sri Lankan team won this match by as many as 133 runs. Along with winning the match, Sri Lanka’s talented spinner Vanindu Hasaranga also created a special record with his sharp bowling. He became only the second bowler in the world to do so.

In this match, Ireland team won the toss and decided to bowl. This time Sri Lanka scored 325 runs losing all wickets in 49.5 overs while batting first. Chasing Sri Lanka’s 326-run challenge, Ireland’s innings crumbled like a house of cards for just 192 runs in 31 overs. So Sri Lanka bagged this match by 133 runs. 5 of Ireland’s 10 wickets were taken by Wanindu Hasaranga alone. As soon as he did this, he recorded a special record.

Wanindu Hasaranga has taken five or more wickets in the third consecutive match (Wanindu Hasaranga 5 Wickets Haul In Consecutive 3 Matches). Therefore, he became the second bowler in the world to take five wickets in three consecutive matches in ODI cricket. Interestingly, Hasaranga is the first spinner in the world to take five or more wickets in three matches. As soon as he did this performance, he equaled Pakistan bowler Waqar Younis. He had the record of taking five wickets in three consecutive ODIs.
