The Indian Test team is currently on a tour of the West Indies. The Indian team will be led by Rohit Sharma in the two-match Test series starting from July 12. Experienced Ajinkya Rahane has been given the vice-captaincy of the Indian team for this series. Rahane, who recently made a comeback after being out of the Indian team for over a year and a half, was again given this responsibility. Hanuma Vihari, who has been out of the Indian team for a long time now, has made a big statement on this issue.
Rahane was out of the Indian team at the end of 2021. Then after a brilliant performance in IPL 2023, he was given a chance in the Indian team in the final match of the World Test Championship. He cemented his place in the team by top scoring for India in both innings. After that, he will be the vice-captain of the team on the West Indies tour.
Vihari recently expressed his belief that Rahane will make a comeback in the Indian team once he says he can make a comeback. he said,
“If Ajinkya is making a comeback to the Indian team at the age of 35, it is definitely a joy. If you have quality, you can definitely make your career bigger. I am still 29 years old and I have plenty of time too.”
Vihari has scored 839 runs in 16 matches so far in his Test career. He got little chance to play in the Indian subcontinent. However, he has excelled in England, Australia and South Africa. During the 2021 Australia tour to Sydney Test despite being injured, he remained unbeaten till the end and played a lion’s share in deciding the match.
