“Virat was forced to quit the captaincy”, the former captain’s big accusation
Indian sportspersons are always in the news for one reason or another. Sometimes he grabs everyone’s attention because of his aggressive nature on the field, sometimes because of his controversy with a former player of his own country. It can be seen that almost two years ago, there was a similar dispute between Sourav Ganguly, the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI, and then captain Virat Kohli. After that, Virat had to leave the leadership. Now former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has made an important statement in this matter.
Speaking on the matter on his YouTube channel, Butt said,
“Virat was a successful captain. However, circumstances were created around him that he had to resign as captain reluctantly. Virat himself has admitted that no one had discussed it with him.”
It is seen that Butt has often made statements in support of Virat in the past as well.
What is the whole argument?
Virat Kohli had said before the T20 World Cup 2022 that he will quit the T20 captaincy. However, he also said that he wants to continue leading the Test and ODI teams. However, BCCI did not agree on this. Due to this, the captaincy of the Test and ODI team was later removed from Virat. BCCI favored him to captain all the three teams. However, Virat’s insistence on giving up the T20 captaincy ultimately freed him from the captaincy of both the teams. A few days later, he also resigned from the post of Test captain.
