The third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 between India and Australia will be played from Wednesday (March 1). Earlier, the current coach Rahul Dravid has taken 334 international catches for India. He will be the seventh cricketer to achieve this feat in world cricket.

Former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene holds the record for most catches in international cricket. He has taken as many as 440 catches in his career. Australia’s Ricky Ponting is second with 364 catches and New Zealand’s Ross Taylor is third with 351 catches. Then Jacques Kallis of South Africa (338 catches) and Rahul Dravid take the number. Virat has so far taken 299 catches in his career including 108 in Tests, 141 in ODIs and 50 in T20Is.

The Indian team dominated the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. In both the matches, the Indian team won both the matches in three days each without allowing Australia to lift their head. A win in the third Test can take the Indian team to the top of the world Test rankings. Also, the Indian team’s place in the finals of the World Test Championship will also be confirmed.
