Warner is running at a snail’s pace in IPL 2023! He is scoring runs but the strike rate is down
In the 16th match of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals faced each other. Looking for their first win, Mumbai took the match in their favour. After getting the opportunity to bat first, Delhi were 172 all out. Captain David Warner once again contributed a half-century in this. Although he has scored half-centuries, he is now being criticized for his slow pace.
After getting the opportunity to bat first, Warner started aggressively. But he calmed down a bit after the spinners came to bowl. After that the ball was not coming well on his bat. Even so, he completed his half-century. It was his third half-century of the season. He scored 51 off 47 balls before being dismissed in the 19th over. It consisted of six fours. So, his strike rate remained at 108.
Warner has batted brilliantly in all four matches so far this season. In these four matches, three fifties have come from his bat. His half-centuries came against Lucknow, Rajasthan and Mumbai. In these four matches, his bat has scored 208 runs at an average of 52. Meanwhile, his strike rate has averaged just 114. Interestingly, not a single six came from his bat in these four matches.
Before crossing the half-century mark in this match, Warner also held an IPL record. He also became the fastest to 3000 runs in the IPL as a captain.
