‘We have to solve our problem…’, Karti supports KL Rahul!
Indian team’s legendary wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik is currently out of the team. India’s veteran opener KL Rahul is currently playing in the Border Gavaskar Test series against Australia. But in the first two matches of the series, Rahul could not perform as expected. Against this backdrop, it is being said that Rahul will not get a chance to play in the third match of the series. However, Dinesh Karthik is upset because of the criticisms being made on Rahul.
KL Rahul was dismissed for 20 runs in the first Test match played in Nagpur. In the second Test against Australia, he scored 17 and 1. After Rahul’s one-run dismissal in Delhi, the criticism against him intensified. According to Dinesh Karthik, these are tough times for KL Rahul. Karthik himself also had to go through such a difficult time. In an interview to a news agency, Dinesh Karthik said, “I have also gone through a period in my career when I went to the washroom and cried a lot. This is a professional world. You have to solve your problems yourself. I always felt that every inning could be the last innings of my career.”
According to Dinesh Karthik, if Rahul was left out of the playing XI, it would not be just because of his poor performance in the Delhi Test. This decision can be taken because Rahul’s bat has been quiet for a long time. “I have often gone into the dressing room and cried secretly. Whenever that happened, it was sad. But often things are out of our hands. If he doesn’t get a chance in the Indore Test, it won’t be because of his performance in the Delhi Test. The decision may be due to the poor performance that followed the series against South Africa last year.”
Although Rahul’s bat is quiet at the moment, his quality has helped the team win many times. According to Karthik, Rahul is currently in bad form but he will make a comeback soon. “Rahul is a good player and has performed well in all three formats of cricket. I think he can make a good comeback. But Shubman Gill () may get a chance to replace him in the Indore Test,” added Karthik.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul became the vice-captain of the Indian Test team in December 2021. But Rahul was stripped of the vice-captaincy in the squad announced by the BCCI for the last two Tests against Australia. His place in the Asat playing XI also seems to be under threat. In the last 9 Test innings, Rahul has scored the highest knock of 23 runs. (Dines Karthik provided support to KL Rahul who was in poor form)
