“We will chase 450 runs”, Lord Shardul expressed optimism

The WTC final between India and Australia started on Wednesday (June 7). The Australian team is in a strong position in this ongoing match at the Oval Stadium in London. At the end of the third day’s play, the Australian team scored 123 for 4, and they have a lead of 296 runs. Indian team may have to chase big runs to win this match. However, Indian team’s all-rounder Shardul Thakur has made a big statement in this regard.

The Indian team made a stunning comeback on the third day of the match. Ajinkya Rahane and Shardul Thakur scored half-centuries to keep the Indian team in the match. After Australia took a 173-run lead in the first innings, the Indian bowlers kept the Australian batsmen at bay in the second innings. At the end of the third day, they had a huge lead of 296 runs. After the third day’s play, Shardul Thakur came to the press conference. After being asked how many runs the Indian team can chase, he said,

“Cricket is a fun game, you never know what the right challenge will be. Whoever will handle the pressure in the final and if there is a good partnership you can chase 450 or more runs, England chased well here last year so that is a positive sign. It would be too early to make any predictions.”

Shardul Thakur himself made his special contribution in this match. When he came to bat, he was hit by the Australian bowlers with a rough phase ball. However, he showed great courage and brought the Indian team out of trouble by completing a half-century.
