Welcome decision of BCCI! Free admission to WPL for girls and women, nominal ticket rates for men

Just two days are left for the first season of the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL 2023) to begin. The entire cricketing world is looking forward to this tournament, which is considered as a revolutionary tournament in women’s cricket. At the same time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken another big decision for the publicity of this tournament.

BCCI made a big announcement with two days left for the tournament. Girls and women will be given free entry to watch matches in this league. So, the price of tickets has also been kept at 100 and 400 only. This decision has been taken to create awareness about women’s cricket and to publicize the tournament.

The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League will begin on March 4. All the matches in the tournament will be played at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and Dr. DY Patil Stadium will be held here. Five teams will be seen playing in this tournament. Mumbai Indians will be led by Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur. So, India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana will be the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. Only these two Indians are going to be captains in the league.

BCCI had prepared hard for the Women’s Premier League tournament. The board has earned as much as Rs 4669 crore from the auction of 5 teams. Also, Rs 951 crore has also been earned from media rights after this. This makes the Women’s Premier League the second largest T20 league in the world after the IPL. In the auction of players too, many players fetched crores of bids. Smriti Mandhana was the most expensive player with an amount of 3 crore 40 lakhs.
